About this tool
Move simple tables out of a fixed document and into a spreadsheet. The tool reads the text and splits it into columns based on spacing, so you can sort, filter and calculate instead of retyping figures.
How to use it
- Choose the file that contains your table.
- Run the converter.
- Open the spreadsheet in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice.
What works best
Simple, evenly spaced tables — price lists, transaction lists, stock reports and timetables — convert most accurately. Because columns are detected from the spacing between words, complex layouts with merged cells, wrapped text, multiple columns of prose or decorative graphics may land in the wrong cells and need tidying.
A worked example
A shop owner receives supplier price lists every month. Converting them puts product names, codes and prices into separate columns, so he can sort by product and apply his own margin with a formula instead of typing hundreds of rows.
Clean-up checklist
- Delete empty rows and repeated header rows.
- Use Text to Columns if two values ended up in one cell.
- Convert numbers stored as text into real numbers.
- Check dates, since 03/04 can mean different things in different regions.
- Recalculate totals and compare them with the original.
Limitations
- Formatting, colours and images are not carried over.
- Scans contain images of tables and need OCR first.
- Password-protected files must be unlocked before uploading.

Step by step: turning a bank statement into a budget sheet
- Download your statement from online banking.
- Use Extract Pages first if you only need the transaction sheets.
- Convert the file and open the spreadsheet.
- Delete header and footer rows such as page totals and addresses.
- Make sure the amount column is formatted as numbers.
- Add a category column and use a pivot table or SUMIF to see where your money goes.
Fixing split or merged values
Because columns are detected from spacing, a long description may spill into the next column, or two short values may share one. Select the affected column and use Data → Text to Columns with a space or fixed-width split, or join cells back together with a simple =A2&" "&B2 formula.
Working in Google Sheets
Upload the converted file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. The same clean-up steps apply, and you can share the sheet with your accountant or team immediately.
