About this tool

Trim wide margins and empty borders so the content fills more of each sheet. The same crop is applied to every sheet, giving the whole document a consistent, tidier look.

How to use it

  1. Upload your PDF.
  2. Set how much to trim from each edge.
  3. Run the tool and download the trimmed copy.

When it helps

  • Scans with thick grey or white borders
  • Slides exported with large empty space around them
  • Reading on a phone or tablet, where every millimetre counts
  • Preparing sheets for printing on a different paper size

Cropping vs resizing

Cropping hides the outer area of each sheet. Resizing changes the sheet's dimensions or scales its content. They solve different problems, so choose cropping when the issue is wasted space around the content.

Check before you share

Trim too much and you may cut off headers, footers, numbering or text close to the edge. Review the result before sending or printing it.

Good to know

Cropping changes the visible area; content outside it may still exist inside the file. If you need to remove sensitive information permanently, use a proper redaction tool instead. Uploaded files are deleted from our server shortly after processing.

A worked example

An exported slide deck has thick white bands on every side, making the slides look tiny on a phone. Trimming 15 mm from each edge makes the content fill the screen and much easier to read.

Choosing the margins

  • Values are in millimetres; an A4 sheet is 210 × 297 mm.
  • Start small, around 5–10 mm, and increase if needed.
  • Use different values per side when the empty space is uneven, for example a large top border from a scanner.
  • Leave a little breathing room so text does not touch the edge.

Before printing

Printers cannot print right to the edge of the paper. If you plan to print the result, keep at least 5 mm of margin and check the print preview.

Trim vs redact

Cropping is about appearance. Content outside the visible area can still exist inside the file, so it is not suitable for hiding personal or confidential information — use a proper redaction tool for that.

Troubleshooting

If content is cut off, reduce the values and run the tool again on your original. Locked files must be unlocked first.
