About this tool

Turn a DOC or DOCX file into a fixed document that opens the same way on every device. It is a convenient way to send a CV, report or letter that should not be edited. Simple documents convert cleanly; complex formatting such as text boxes, unusual fonts or advanced layouts may be simplified.

How to use it

  1. Choose your DOC or DOCX file.
  2. Run the converter.
  3. Download the result.

Why convert?

  • Layout stays put – once converted, text and spacing no longer reflow on someone else's computer.
  • Opens anywhere – the reader does not need Microsoft Office.
  • Harder to change by accident – ideal for final versions.
  • Often required – many job portals, universities and government sites ask for this format.

Common uses

CVs and cover letters, assignments and theses, business proposals, quotations, contracts, newsletters and anything you plan to print.

Supported formats

Both the modern .docx format and the older .doc format are accepted.

Get the best result

  • Use common fonts, or embed custom fonts in your file, so text looks right.
  • Check headers, footers and tables after converting.
  • Password-protected originals must be unlocked first.

Privacy

Your upload is used only to create the download and is deleted from our server shortly afterwards.

A worked example

A graduate sends a CV written in Word to five companies. On one recruiter's laptop, a missing font shifts the layout onto three sheets instead of two. Converting before sending locks the design so every recruiter sees exactly the same two-page CV.

Prepare your document

  • Accept or reject tracked changes and delete comments you do not want to share.
  • Update the table of contents and any automatic fields.
  • Check headers, footers and section breaks in Print Layout view.
  • Embed unusual fonts (File → Options → Save → Embed fonts) if you used any.

When not to convert

Keep the Word version when someone needs to edit the text, add comments or fill in a template. Send the fixed version for final drafts, applications and anything you want to look identical everywhere.

Troubleshooting

  • Different font: embed the font or switch to a common one such as Calibri, Arial or Times New Roman.
  • Images moved: set image wrapping to "In line with text" for predictable placement.
  • Upload fails: remove password protection from the original first.
